A Dutch/British family living in Houthavens are searching for a part time nanny for their two daughters. In January the eldest will be four years old. You will be responsible for the baby from April when she will be nine months old. Ideally the family would like a nanny who can start on 25th January 2021 working Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2 - 7pm. There is the possibility the job can start at beginning of January with more hours (due to the lockdown). From the 5th April the hours will be increased on Monday to 8 - 7pm and continue from 2 - 7pm on Tuesday and Thursdays. From January until April your afternoons will be spent with the four year old. From 5th April you will be caring for her nine month baby sister for the whole day on Monday’s.  The four year old will be attending school from 8.15 - 2.10pm.

During the school holidays there is the opportunity for extra hours. There is also the possibility of extra hours in the evening, weekends and maybe overnight every so often.

This is a sole charge role as both parents will be working. It’s likely the parents will be working at home potentially full time but possibly in the office half of the time.  It’s unusual for the parents to travel for work.

The four year old is independent, loves unicorns and sparkles, getting dirty and going to the playground. She likes making people laugh, dancing and singing. She loves playing with her friends and adults equally.  It’s favourable the nanny enjoys imaginative play and entering the child’s world. She is very communicative and loves being included in what’s happening. Part of your responsibilities might include taking her to a weekly dance class.

The baby will attend daycare all day on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Your day on a Monday will consist of going for walks with the baby, playing and reading with her. Encouraging her development and for her to meet her developmental milestones. The family follows a routine but is flexible and relaxed with it. In the afternoon you will need to collect the four year old from school.

In regards to discipline the parents aim to have a clear approach with the children. They encourage talking and explanation and giving the children control within guidelines and boundaries. The nanny needs to continue encouraging her good manners and treating others with respect. The ideal nanny is someone to be the four years old friend while providing boundaries and authority.

The family specifically wants an English speaking nanny to enhance and develop the girl’s English language skills. The nanny needs to be confident in providing and implementing activities to enrich their vocabulary. Someone naturally chatty as language skills development is vital.

The nanny needs to be happy planning sensory activities, arts and crafts, water play and taking the girls on adventures to the zoo and park and organising playdates with their friends.

Cooking for the whole family is part of the nannies responsibilities. Doing the children’s washing will not be required on a weekly basis. Tidying up after yourself and the children and keeping the children’s playing areas and bedrooms tidy is part of your duties.

A nanny confident in cooking a variety of dishes included lasagne, bolognese, stews, curries, cauliflower rice, salads etc. It’s important you are experienced and keen to encourage children to try and explore new recipes.
